Description
The Cisco Wireless Networking Site Survey course is
designed to give students a firm understanding of how to conduct a site
survey and explores WLAN topologies for voice and data as well as
location appliance services. The design strategies include Cisco WCS
planning tool, Cognio Spectrum Expert and AirMagnet Survey Pro.
Methodologies and project management are also covered. Hands-on labs
provide attendees with experience performing site analyses for RF
interference and performing a site survey for voice, data and locations
appliance services.
Laptops are provided to
participate in the hands-on labs. If you desire to use your own laptop,
please bring a laptop computer with an available 32-bit CardBus slot
and an Ethernet port as well as an internal wireless NIC, 802.11a/b/g.
The laptops operating systems must be either MS Windows 2000 (SP4) or
XP. The laptop should also have a 9-pin serial port or USB to serial
adapter. IN ADDITION, you will need administrator rights to the laptop
to install drivers for the wireless client used in class. Objectives
- Describe detailed modulation and spreading techniques and sources of interference for WLAN client adapters
- Identify components, topologies, and the use of channels for WLANs
- Describe the requirement necessary for deployment and performing a site survey
- Describe the steps, concepts, and tools available while performing a site survey
- Configure Cognio Spectrum Expert to perform a site analyses for RF interference
- Configure AirMagnet Surveyor Pro to perform a data site survey
- Conduct a site survey for voice using AirMagnet Surveyor Pro
- Perform a floor calibration using Cisco Wireless Location Appliance
