CUWSS v1.0 - Conducting Cisco Unified Wireless Site Survey

Duration:

Description

The Conducting Cisco Unified Wireless Site Survey course is a 5-day ILT course, designed to help students prepare for the CCNP-Wireless certification, a professional level certification specializing in the wireless field. The CUWSS course is a component of the CCNP-Wireless curriculum. The CUWSS course is designed to give students a firm understanding of how to conduct a site survey and explores WLAN topologies for voice and data as well as location appliance services. Students will explore design strategies, including Cisco WCS planning tool, Cisco Spectrum Expert, AirMagnet Survey Pro as well as examine methodologies and project management. The CUWSS training class reinforces the instruction by providing students with hands-on labs.

Laptops are provided to participate in the hands-on labs. If you desire to use your own laptop, please bring a laptop computer with an available 32-bit CardBus slot and an Ethernet port as well as an internal wireless NIC, 802.11a/b/g. The laptop’s operating systems must be either MS Windows 2000 (SP4) or XP. The laptop should also have a 9-pin serial port or USB to serial adapter. IN ADDITION, you will need administrator rights to the laptop to install drivers for the wireless client used in class.

Objectives

  • Prepare, plan, design, implement, operate and optimize a WLAN
  • Describe different radio signal requirements for different wireless applications and design for data, voice and location based services
  • Perform a layer one survey with Cisco Spectrum Expert to indentify any interfering devices
  • Perform a layer two survey for data, voice and location based services
  • Perform a layer two survey for 802.11n (Greenfield Survey) devices only
  • Perform a wireless site assessment and audit once the WALN has been installed
  • Complete a site survey report

Prerequisites

  • Cisco Certified Networking Associate – CCNA
  • Cisco Certified Networking Associate Wireless – CCNA Wireless

Who Should Attend

The CUWSS class is targeted toward wireless network engineer, mid-level wireless support engineer, wireless test engineer, wireless network designer and IT professionals tasked with performing or overseeing site surveys for wireless LAN solution implementations. The CUWSS class is also targeted at individuals wishing to attain the CCNPWireless certification.
