Description
This course provides an overview of MPLS technology,
concepts and terminology, and an introduction to MPLS implementation
and operation in a multiservice IP+ATM network consisting of BPX and
MGX switches. Objectives
After completing this course the student should be able to: - Explain the background, concepts and terminology for ATM Multiprotocol Label switching (MPLS)
- Describe the functions and operation of the Label Distribution Protocol
- Describe the role of the Virtual Switch Interface (VSI) and the Label Switch Controller (LSC)
- Perform the basic configuration of a BPX switch and associated LSC for operation as an ATM Label Switch Router (LSR)
- Perform the basic configuration of an MGX-PXM1 concentrator with RPM(s) for operation as a Label Edge Router (LER)
- Perform the basic configuration of an MGX-PXM45 concentrator with RPM(s) for operation as an LSC
- Setup MPLS interoperation of MGX-PXM1 LER and MGX-PXM45 LSC using a Virtual Path (VP) tunnel
- Describe the function and operation of Multi-LVC for Q|MPLS-QoS in an ATM MPLS network
- Set up MUlti-LVCs on an existing MPLS-enabled network node
- Describe the function and operation of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) in an ATM MPLS network
- Set up and verify VPN operation in a sample network
- Describe the function and operation of RPM 1:N redundancy in MGX platforms
- Describe the function and operation of LSC redundancy in BPX and MGX platforms
- Given a sample network configure and verify RPM 1:N and LSC redundancy
Prerequisites
Before arriving at this course, students should have
completed the following pre-requisite courses, or have equivalent
knowledge or experience: - BPX Switch and Services Configuration (BSSC) version 2.x or 3.0
