Description
CWM Installation and Operation is a leader-led,
lab-intensive courses. The course teaches the knowledge and skills
needed to install, configure, operate, manage, and verify Cisco WAN
switches using CWM application software. Objectives
After completing this course the student should be able to: - Identify the major features of the CWM station.
- Identify the system requirements for installing the CWM station.
- Configure switches to allow management by the CWM station.
- Document the network topology.
- Configure switches, add and delete nodes and trunks, and use the Network Monitor.
- Configure and test network connections using the Configuration Center and Diagnostic Center.
- Perform device management using the Configuration Center and Chassis View.
- Configure and collect statistics from the nodes using the Statistics Collection Manager
. - Create performance reports using the statistics that have been collected.
- Save and restore network configurations from the nodes.
- Upgrade the software configuration and software remotely.
Prerequisites
Students who attend this advanced course should have a
working knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, and network management concepts and
strategies. They should have completed appropriate WAN switching
courses on the platforms they will support with the CWM station (for
example, MAESC and MPSSC if they have an MGX 8850-PXM45 network).
Equivalent experience can be substituted for these courses. The
participants are required to possess Solaris system administration
skills or equivalent experience. Given the complexity of the WAN
switching environment, it is highly recommended that participants in
this class be very familiar with switching technology, concepts and
issues.
