Description
Advanced Services’ IPv6 Advanced is the capstone
course to the IPv6 curriculum. With IPv6 rapidly becoming a globally
deployed standard for Internet traffic it is imperative for technical
professionals to have a comprehensive understanding of IPv6, the
technologies affected by IPv6, and the level of support for IPv6 in
Cisco IOS® Software. In addition to recapping and refreshing IPv6
design and deployment fundamentals, this lab-intensive hands-on course
adds two full days of deployment exercises. Using designs validated by
Cisco, you will be challenged with two capstone exercises where you use
your acquired skill and knowledge to design and deploy IPv6 into
enterprise and service provider networks.
Please note: Students need to provide their own Windows-based laptops and 15-ft-or longer ethernet cables. Objectives
- Characterize the IP packet structure for IPv6, the three types of
IPv6 addresses, how neighbors are discovered, and how IPv6 affect
Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
- Describe the changes to IPv4 routing protocols to support
IPv6 topologies and describe the configuration of IPv6 routing
protocols on Cisco® routers
- Characterize the various approaches to IPv6 integration and discuss some of the primary implementation and design considerations
- Describe aspects of security issues, how security for IPv6 is
different from that for IPv4, and emerging practices for IPv6-enabled
networks
- Describe mobile IPv6, IPv6 multicasting mechanisms, and what
Cisco network management features and tools are available to manage an
IPv6 network
- Use recommended approaches to deploy IPv6 into enterprise campus and branch topologies
- Using a service provider scenario, design and deploy a
dual-stack deployment with Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System
(IS-IS) Protocol v6, DHCPv6, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), IPv6
Provider Edge (6PE), quality of service (QoS), and security
Prerequisites
- Learner must have intermediate knowledge of networking concepts and configuration of Cisco hardware (CCDA® certification track).
- Previous exposure to IPv6 is highly recommended.
Who Should Attend
This course is for technical professionals
who are looking to integrate IPv6 into their existing network
environment or deploying native IPv6 services. |
