Description
This five-day hands-on course focuses on the Cisco
Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) deployment and operations.
Participants will learn how to configure and manage Cisco UCS servers
with consolidated I/O networking for LAN and SAN connectivity and how
to virtualize server properties to enable simple and rapid mobility of
server operating system images between physical servers. Participants
will practice configuring fault tolerance, implementing a multitenant
management model, backing up and restoring system configurations, and
using the built-in monitoring and troubleshooting tools in Cisco UCS
Manager. Objectives
- Explain how Cisco UCS addresses key problems in Data Center server environments
- Describe the Cisco UCS system architecture, hardware components, and options
- Explain how to connect to and manage Cisco UCS components
- Describe the Cisco UCS Manager
- Explain the connectivity requirements for the Cisco UCS platform
- Describe the process of configuring server profiles to allocate physical resources
- Describe the maintenance processes and high-availability configuration for a Cisco UCS deployment
- Identify common deployment scenarios for Cisco UCS
- Explain how the Cisco Nexus 1000V switch fits in to a VMware server virtualization environment
Prerequisites
The knowledge and skills that a learner must have before attending this course include the following:
- Cisco CCNAŽ certification or the equivalent level of working knowledge and experience
- Expertise with Cisco Nexus switches
- Familiarity with SAN concepts and Cisco MDS 9000 switches
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows
