DCUCD v3.0 - Designing Cisco Virtualized Data Centers

Duration: 30 days

Description

The Cisco Data Center Unified Computing Design (DCUCD) v3.0 is a five-day instructor-led course with lab exercises that help prepare the student for the certification exam 642-982 DCUCD. The course content is primarily focused on the Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) and to a lesser degree also on Cisco Nexus 1000v Virtual Switch, Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches, Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches, Cisco MDS Series Switches, and VMware vSphere 4. The course starts with an overview of Data Center Computing solutions and then explains the design aspects of the Cisco Data Center Unified Computing solution. The Delivery Lab for this course is accessed using a remote access procedure coupled with a GUI application that provides connectivity to all lab devices.

Objectives

The goal of the DCUCD curriculum is to enable customers to build scalable, reliable, and intelligent Cisco Data Center Unified Computing solutions using Cisco UCS, Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches, Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switches, Cisco MDS Series Switches, Cisco Nexus 1000v Virtual Switch, Cisco Data Center Network Manager (Cisco DCNM), Cisco Fabric Manager, VMware vSphere 4, Linux, and Microsoft Windows operating system.

  • Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
    • Understand Cisco Unified Computing solutions and identify server architecture.
    • Identify and understand Cisco UCS components, management, system connectivity, high availability, and size Cisco Unified Computing System.
    • Understand and design Cisco UCS server deployment.
    • Identify Cisco Unified Computing solution management aspects.
    • Understand and design Cisco Unified Computing network.
    • Understand and design Cisco Unified Computing SAN.
    • Identify historical performance characteristics, and reconnaissance and analysis tools, and determine aspects affecting the migration plan.
    • Identify Cisco UCS deployments and describe solution advantages.
    • Understand server virtualization and server virtualization networking.
    • Evaluate Cisco Unified Computing solution, understand design success criteria, and determine ROI.
